myCAMPapp Push Notifications

As a CampSite user, you are able to send push notifications to the myCAMPapp through CampSite! Push notifications can be send both to Families and to Staff members via the Staff Module (for those camps using the Staff Module). While this article will describe the process for the Family system, keep in mind that the same process is available for Staff as well.

You are able to send push notifications in two ways through CampSite:

  1. Send Notifications en mass via Advanced Reports
  2. Send Notifications to an Individual Family via the Family Profile Page (or Staff Profile page for Staff)

Sending Notifications en mass via Advanced Reports

To send a notification to many families at once navigate to Campers > Advanced Reports. (Or to Staff > Advanced Reports).

Once in Advanced Reports, create a report by adding Sessions. Only familes of campers who are enrolled in the current CampSite year will be able to get notifications in the myCAMPapp. For more information on making an Advanced Report please see: Camper Advanced Reports

In the results of your report, you will see all campers who fit the criteria (sessions and filters) of your report. Once you have campers in the report, you will be able to click on the "Push notifications" button in the toolbar above the results. 

Clicking on the "Push notifications" button will bring you to the mass notifications page.

Here you can choose to either choose to creat a new message by typing into the "Message" box, or you can select a saved push notification that was previously created in the "Saved push notification" dropdown. After you either type a new notification or choose a saved notification, you will need to choose a date and time for this notification to go to parent phones. Choosing a date or time in the future will send the message at that designated date and time. Choosing a date or time in the past will send the notification immediately upon clicking the "send" button.

Once a date and time is selected, you will choose a sound that will be used by the recipients device to alert them of the notification. 

You can choose between the following sounds:

  • Phone default (which will default to the recipients device default)
  • Camera (shutter sound)
  • Ding
  • Yay! (this will be the sound of a voice exclaiming "yay!")

Please note that these selections work best when the recipient is using an iphone or apple device. If the recipient is using a device that is not ios (android, google, etc...) they are likely to get their device default sound regardless of the selection here. 

In the "Send push notifications" section, you can select your recipients out of P1, P2, D1, and D2. You are also able to de-select any families that you would like to remove from this notification push by clicking on the blue checkbox next to their name.

If you create a new notification by typing into the "Message" section earlier and you would like to save the message to use at a later time, click on "Save push notification" to the bottom left.

If you are ready to send this notification, click on "Send" in the bottom right corner.

You will need to confirm this notification sending by selecting "OK" when prompted.

You will know that a notification was sent successfully when you see the green confirmation and the option to return to the Family Dashboard page.

Sending Notifications to an Individual Family via the Family Profile Page

To send a notification to a single family, navigate to the Family Profile Page of the family that you would like to send to.

You can navigate to any Family Profile Page by typing the name of a family or camper into the search bar in the top right of the screen.

Once you are on the Family Profile Page, click on the Action Menu dropdown and select "Send push notifications".

Here you can choose to either choose to creat a new message by typing into the "Message" box, or you can select a saved push notification that was previously created in the "Saved push notification" dropdown.
