In this article, we will present the steps that CampSite would recommend an admin user take to create a simple Half Day Summer camp option should be created using the Setup Wizard.
If the following statement sounds like your camp program needs, then this setup may be for you:
"My program operates Half Days (Morning, Afternoon, and a Full Day Option)."
"My program runs for more than one session. Parents/guardians can select specific days within that session, and further select which half of the day they are attending. This article is for organizations that run some sort of ‘half day’ enrollment program."
Step 2: Sessions
You’ll want to create a session per day and per option - so every day your program is occurring, there is a session for the smallest increment a camper can be present. This could mean you have up to three sessions on the same date - a Morning Half, an Afternoon Half, and a Full Day session. You’ll start by creating your full day sessions:
- Click +Add session…
- Give your session a name, like ‘Week 1 Monday Morning , or June 6th Morning,’
- Select Your Camp Start and End Dates as the SAME date.
- Set a Capacity under Maximum Capacity if needed
- Select the ‘active day’ option that matches your day of the week - a monday session should have ‘mondays only’
- Click the add new session button.
Repeat the above process for half days. If you have AM and PM half days, you’ll want to repeat it twice, once for each option. Make sure to include AM/PM or Morning/Afternoon in the session title for quicker reference.
If you need to add sub capacities or edit the active days of this session, you can double click the pencil to the left of the session name. You can learn more about these actions here: Campers Wizard - Step 2: Sessions
Step 3: Transaction Categories
This step has no direct instruction for this setup sample outside of it's general functionality. If you have questions about Transaction Categories, please see: Campers Wizard - Step 3: Transaction Categories
Step 4: Payment Schedules
This step has no direct instruction for this setup sample outside of it's general functionality. If you have questions about Payment Schedules, please see: Campers Wizard - Step 4: Payment Schedules
Step 5: Tuition
Here in step five, you’ll need to make the different rates. A daily rate, a half day rate, and maybe two half day rates if the prices vary between morning and afternoon. If your camp does a pro-rated rate for a full week of full days, you might also want to create that here as well.
- Click +Add Tuition Plan
- In the new window, name your tuition plan. This should encompass the base rate of the corresponding item (ie: Half Day AM, Full Day, Half Day PM, Non-Member Full Day, etc). Select the transaction category that funds paid for this camp should be allocated to.
- Set the amount.
- Note, if you have early bird/ late sign up price increase, you can learn more about tuition plan rates here:
- Repeat these steps for every base rate price iteration your organization might have. Below is an example of what that might look like.
Step 6: Enrollment Extras

Step 7: Enrollment Discounts

Step 8: Enrollment Form Setup
This step has no direct instruction for this setup sample outside of it's general functionality. If you have questions about Enrollment Form Setup, please see: Campers Wizard - Step 8: Enrollment Form Setup
Step 9: Enrollment Options
Here, we’ll want to really take into consideration what you want your bunking boards and reports to look like when building your bundles in your enrollment options. Should campers who attend a half day still be present in the full roster?
If your answer to ‘Should campers who attend a half day still be present in the full roster?’ Is YES...
....campers need to be on a combined bunking board and when I pull the full session roster, I want half day participants to be reflected. This is the best option if you are also assigning staff to groups of campers in the bunking boards with the Staff module, and/or utilizing bunk scheduling with the Program module. This is best for using the staff module alongside it and integrated reporting.
- Click +Add Enrollment Option
- In the pop up window, give your enrollment option a name, and a description! This will be your first ‘week’ of offerings. An example title would be “Summer Camp Week One”
- Select a payment schedule if necessary
- Set Active to ‘Yes’
- Click the ‘add enrollment option’ button to close the window.
- Once the option is made, select +add bundle. You’ll be making a bundle for the half day (AM half and a PM half if you have that), plus a bundle that incorporates all - so 2-3 total.
- For your half day bundles, name them something like ‘Monday AM Only’ for single day half day sessions, or ‘Half Day AM’
- Set number of sessions to ‘2’
- Select the rate (Tuition Plan) participants enrolling in this bundle will be responsible for paying.
- This should be your ‘half day’ tuition plan.
- Select the half day from Step 2: Sessions that this bundle represents, and the full day session (so this bundle will be pick 2 of 2).
- Set Active to ‘Yes’.
- Select any enrollment extras campers enrolling in this bundle may select.
- Click ‘Add Bundle’ to add the bundle.
- You may need to set a deposit if you are collecting a portion or all of the funds for this bundle up front. You can learn more about that step here: Campers Wizard - Step 9: Enrollment Options
- Repeat Step 2 for a PM half day, if needed.
- Repeat step 2 once more for a FULL day, selecting all relevant sessions for the day (Monday AM, Monday PM, Monday Full Day).
By the end of this process, your enrollment option should have three bundles inside, of which parents can pick one option. Monday AM places the camper in the Monday AM session and the combined full day session, similarly with Monday PM, or Monday full day - which places them on both of the half day rosters and a combined roster. This allows you to have a roster of everyone attending regardless of half/full status on bunking boards, but still separate out campers on each option easily within Advanced Reports.
If your answer to ‘Should campers who attend a half day still be present in the full roster?’ Is NO...
....campers will not be on the full day bunking board, nor returned in advanced reports when pulling the full day roster. This is best when the half days are totally separate from one another, and can only participate in one half (cannot attend full day).
- Click +Add Enrollment Option
- In the pop up window, give your enrollment option a name, and a description!
- Select a payment schedule if necessary
- Set Active to ‘Yes’.
- Click the ‘add enrollment option’ button to close the window.
- Once the option is made, select +add bundle
- In the pop up window, give your bundle a name. This might be a place to put something like ‘Monday July 20th AM’.
- Set number of sessions to ‘1’
- Select the rate (Tuition Plan) participants enrolling in this bundle will be responsible for paying.
- This should be your ‘half day’ tuition plan.
- Select the corresponding session you made on step 2.
- You can repeat step 2 to add another bundle with a PM bundle if necessary, or a full day option so parents can pick between bundles.
- Add any other details, such as restrictions, passcodes, or enrollment option questions as needed.
